Standing to Achieve New Directions

...Changing Lives for the Better

Domestic Violence Services

STAND Inc. is in the business of “Changing Lives” for the better by Promoting Family and Community Safety.

Domestic violence is a social, legal, and public health issue that affects many Georgians regardless of age, ethnicity or social status. Adult victims and their children suffer untold emotional damage and physical harm, including death. Unfortunately, the stories are not always pleasant.

Each victim is on a journey from abuse to a destination of empowerment and safety; a journey

that requires incredible courage and strength. Some journeys are short, while others are lengthy.

Some end with wonderful, new lives, others with death. Some never end.

STAND Inc. Domestic Violence program is dedicated to the eradication of acts of family violence in all forms and to stemming their recurrence by providing systematic intervention to batterers and by holding them accountable for all conduct that interferes with the safety and peaceful harmony of the home environment for all family members. Our goal is to reduce incidences of intimate partner violence and restore family preservation.

It’s a story of one woman’s struggle through abuse, domestic violence, heartache, identity crisis, spiritual disconnection, and religious persecution. Her ultimate goal is the pursuit of happiness, inner peace, and outward empowerment. Ultimately finding a satisfying relationship that validated her gave her peace, and made her feel proud of herself.

This is a story of strength perseverance, and the finding of the ultimate love “herself” through “God”.

Success Story:

Tyrone describes that on his first day at STAND, I felt like it wasn’t the place for me. However, after attending several classes he admits that he finally realized that STAND was what he needed to change his attitude towards life. “I’ve learned that as a man you shouldn’t attempt nor put your hands on a woman. I’ve also learned how to communicate better without arguing. This program helped me to show more love and appreciation toward others.”

At STAND Inc., we don’t focus on where our clients come from, our emphasis is on where they are capable of going.

Our clients are individuals newly released from jail or prison; those infected and/or affected by select chronic diseases; and, those in the grasp of addiction. We are purposed to develop and facilitate evidenced based, effective re-entry and recovery solutions for under-served populations.
